Lahore: Pakistan cricket team’s chief selector Haroon Rasheed has said that the selection of the team for the home series against New Zealand was done in consultation with captain Babar Azam. Speaking to the media in Lahore, Rasheed said that three major events, including the Asia Cup, World Cup, and T20 World Cup, are coming up next year and efforts are being made to form a strong combination.
He added that time is short and the coaching staff will finalize the middle-order better within a week. Rasheed praised Haris Sohail’s left-handed batting skills and said that he could perform well in Asian conditions.
He also confirmed that Babar Azam is the team’s captain and that there is no disagreement on the selection of any player. Regarding the dropped aggressive batsman Azam Khan, Rasheed said that he needs to work on his weaknesses and improve his game against spinners to make a comeback. He also said that once a player is dropped, it’s up to him to work hard and earn his place back.
