The Sindh Assembly demanded a separate quota for the players belonging to their province in the Pakistan National team.
A member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Mohammad Hussain moved a resolution in the house on Tuesday, calling for the inclusion of at least six Sindh players in every Pakistan squad along with the reinstatement of wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed as Men in Green’s skipper.
Sarfaraz was removed as Pakistan’s captain from all formats after the Men in Green were clean swept by Sri Lanka three-nil in the recently-concluded Twenty20 International (T20I) series in Lahore.
Hussain said that a lobby was behind Sarfaraz’s removal and he decided to table the resolution, after the Punjab Assembly moved a motion to remove Sarfaraz from captaincy.
The resolution was adopted unanimously by the members in the session chaired by Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.
Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani also expressed his displeasure over Sarfaraz’s sacking and demanded his reinstatement.
