In a recent National Assembly session, Haider Hussain, the Secretary General of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), expressed reservations regarding the interpretation of the federation’s constitution. Hussain aimed to clarify the PHF constitution to esteemed members such as Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, and other honorable members.

Hussain emphasized that the PHF President was duly elected based on the federation’s constitution for a four-year term spanning from 2022 to 2026. These elections were recognized by the Pakistan Olympics Association (POA), Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), and International Hockey Federation (FIH). He highlighted that the PHF constitution does not explicitly state that the president’s position is limited to a single term. The PHF constitution, section 12.9.2, outlines the constitutional term of the PHF President.

Furthermore, Haider Hussain expressed the federation’s intention to present their perspective regarding the briefing provided to the Lower House of Parliament by the honorable minister. He stressed that the PHF operates as an independent organization within the boundaries of the constitution, maintaining affiliations with FIH, AHF, and POA.
