The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a statement regarding the non-issuance of visas to Pakistani fans and journalists for participating in the World Cup 2023 being held in India, citing a lack of interest in cricket enthusiasts. While acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, an ICC spokesperson expressed confidence in resolving the matter promptly.

The ICC has assured the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that efforts are underway to address this issue urgently.

Yesterday, the PCB had expressed concerns and demanded action from the ICC regarding the visa policy for the World Cup, especially for fans and journalists. The PCB had expressed disappointment that Pakistani journalists and fans were facing uncertainty about obtaining Indian visas for coverage of Pakistan’s opening match in the ICC World Cup, which has created significant pressure on us.

In the PCB’s letter, it was further stated that for the past three years, they have been reminding the ICC of their responsibilities and obligations regarding visas for fans and journalists, as per their agreements and commitments, yet the issues have not been resolved, which is regrettable.
