The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has formally sought clarification from various departmental sports organizations over the non-participation of their representatives in the Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Extraordinary Elective Congress, held on December 28, 2025, at a local hotel in Lahore.

According to the Pakistan Sports Board, the Congress was convened in accordance with the PFF Constitution 2025 and was attended by representatives of FIFA, the Pakistan Olympic Association, and the Pakistan Sports Board. However, representatives from several key departmental bodies, including the Fitness & Sports Directorate (GHQ), Pakistan Police Sports Board, Air Headquarters, Naval Headquarters, Pakistan WAPDA, Pakistan Railways, and the Higher Education Commission, were absent from the meeting.

In its correspondence, the PSB emphasized that departmental and services sports organizations are an integral part of the PFF Congress, which serves as the federation’s supreme legislative and decision-making body. Their participation, the Board noted, is essential for ensuring transparency, legitimacy, and collective ownership of the electoral process.

The Pakistan Sports Board further stated that the issue holds national importance, particularly at a time when Pakistan has recently been reinstated in international football following a prolonged FIFA suspension. The Board stressed that all stakeholders have made significant efforts to restore Pakistan football at the global level, and any lapse that could lead to concern or misunderstanding should be avoided.

The PSB has requested the concerned institutions to provide a detailed explanation for their absence from the Congress, including any administrative, operational, or genuine constraints that may have prevented attendance. According to the Board, a timely response will enable it to effectively address the matter with the Pakistan Football Federation and other stakeholders, while safeguarding the national interest of sports and Pakistan’s standing in international forums.

It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Football Federation had also issued letters to the relevant departments in this regard, copies of which were forwarded to the Pakistan Sports Board.
