PFF President Highlights Crucial Role of Departments in Strengthening Football in Pakistan

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Mohsen Gilani has underlined the significant role departmental teams play in the growth and success of football across the country.

Speaking on the importance of institutional support in national sports, Gilani said that the departmental structure has historically served as the backbone of Pakistan’s sporting achievements, playing a vital role in developing players’ skills, discipline, and national pride.

“Departments have always played a key role in promoting sports and encouraging athletes across Pakistan,” said Gilani. “Their contribution in nurturing young talent, instilling discipline, and promoting healthy competition is unmatched. These institutions have fulfilled their responsibilities remarkably well in boosting players’ confidence and raising the standard of national sports. I hope departments will continue their contribution, which will further promote sports in the country.”

Highlighting the need to revive departmental football, the PFF President pointed out the recent National Games, where all finalist teams represented different institutions and organizations. “This clearly shows how crucial departmental teams are in shaping athletes nationwide and inspiring young footballers,” he added.

Gilani expressed confidence in the federation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen football structures across Pakistan. “Our focus is on boosting departmental sports programs, organizing competitive events, and creating platforms that allow players to showcase their talent. Through these efforts, we aim to build a vibrant football culture that brings pride and recognition to Pakistan.”

Reiterating the federation’s commitment to expanding opportunities for institutional teams, Gilani remarked, “Departments are vital pillars of Pakistan football, and the PFF is eager to host more departmental competitions in the future to further develop the sport at every level.
