KARACHI – The Pakistani team that brought pride to the nation by winning the Norway Cup arrived at the Sindh Assembly alongside Lyari MPA and Parliamentary Secretary Shazia Kareem Singhar, where they received a grand welcome.
Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, former Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, and opposition leader Sabir Rajput stood on the floor of the House to warmly greet the players with words of praise.
Lawmakers hailed the young athletes as “national heroes” who had elevated the honour of Pakistan and Sindh. Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon assured that the players would be rewarded by the Sindh Chief Minister and the Sports Department, promising a formal announcement of their well-deserved rewards soon.
A lighthearted moment occurred when Agha Siraj Durrani suggested to Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon that the players be gifted a Red Bus for inter-city travel to matches. The suggestion received loud desk-thumping approval from assembly members, bringing visible joy to the Norway Cup champions.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s Better Future Pakistan team recently won the U-15 title at the Norway Cup, defeating Norway’s club Jovik Lyn 2-0 in the final.
