Karachi: The 9th Students Olympic Games 2025 officially commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony at the KMC Sports Complex, Kashmir Road, Karachi. The event will run from September 15 to 30, featuring competitions across multiple venues including KMC, PSB, and the Mini Sports Complex Nazimabad.
This year’s edition has drawn participation from 500 teams representing various schools, competing in 24 sports disciplines across five categories: Classes 4–5 & 6–8, Matric/O-Level, Intermediate/A-Level, University, and Open Age Group.

The sports lineup includes athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, cycling, chess, catch ball, dodgeball, cricket, futsal, fitness, gymnastics, handball, hockey, netball, padel, pickleball, rope skipping, skating, throwball, tug of war, volleyball, and taekwondo.
The opening ceremony was graced by Abdul Wahan, Chairman of Burraq Sports, and Maqbool Arain, President of the Pakistan Students Olympic Association, who inaugurated the event by releasing colorful balloons and raising the ceremonial banner. Among the attendees were Ahmed Ali Rajput, Secretary Sindh Olympic Association; Ame Leila, Secretary Pakistan Catch Ball; principals, sports coordinators, coaches, and athletes from various institutions.
On the first day, DHA Phase 4 School secured first place in the Girls Throwball event, followed by Quaid-e-Azam Rangers School in second and Bahria College Noor-1 in third. In the Boys Throwball event, TFS School A claimed first place, TFS School B came second, while Safia Boys School finished third.
