The decision was made after a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during which key issues related to the World Cup were discussed.

Following the meeting, the government announced that Pakistan would compete in the tournament but would boycott the match against India scheduled for 15 February.

According to government sources, the decision has been taken as a protest, with concerns over what Pakistan views as a biased ICC decision regarding Bangladesh cited as a major reason.

Officials said the Pakistan team has been instructed not to play the match against India on the scheduled date.
