A female cricket umpire from New Zealand made history by officiating in an on-field capacity during a match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Kathleen Cross became the first woman on-field umpire to officiate in matches between two full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s International.

Yesterday, in the second T20 match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Kathleen Cross fulfilled her responsibilities as an on-field umpire. Australia’s Claire Polosak had the honor of becoming the first woman on-field umpire in international matches in 2019, but she umpired during matches between two associate member countries Oman and Namibia.
