Cricket World Cup 2023: Bangladesh hands Afghanistan team a crushing defeat

Dharamshala: In the third match of the Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan’s team convincingly.

In a match held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India, Bangladesh easily won against Afghanistan. Bangladesh achieved Afghanistan’s target of 156 runs in just 35 overs, while four of Afghanistan’s players were out.

During the innings, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was out without scoring, while Liton Das made 13 runs before being clean-bowled. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed with 97 runs partnership. Mehidy was dismissed after scoring 57 runs, and captain Shakib Al Hasan managed only 14 runs. Bangladesh’s middle-order batsman, Najmul Hossain Shanto, remained not out with 59 runs, with the help of 3 fours and 1 six, while Afghanistan’s Fazal Haq Farooqi, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Naveen-ul-Haq took one wicket each.

Before that, Afghanistan’s team scored 156 runs against Bangladesh in 37.2 overs. Afghanistan’s openers provided a 47-run start, but Ibrahim Zadran was dismissed for 22 runs, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz continued the fine batting with 47 runs before Afghanistan’s other players struggled. Rahmat Shah scored 18, Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi made 18, Najibullah Zadran contributed 5, Mohammad Nabi scored 6, Rashid Khan managed 9, Mujeeb Ur Rahman got out for 1, and Naveen-ul-Haq remained on zero.

From the Bangladesh side, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 3 wickets each, while Shoriful Islam got 2 wickets, and Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed took 1 wicket each.
