Zurich – The latest FIFA Futsal Women’s World Ranking has welcomed 12 new teams, underlining the growing global popularity of the sport in the build-up to the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™, set to be staged in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7, 2025.
Brazil continue to dominate both the men’s and women’s standings, while Spain and Portugal remain their closest challengers. The updated ranking, released this week, will serve as the basis for pot allocation in the official tournament draw on September 15.
With the addition of Canada, Mexico, Panama, Tanzania, Cameroon, Angola, Egypt, Honduras, Madagascar, Namibia, Guinea, and Cuba, a record 92 women’s teams now feature in the rankings. Guatemala also returned to the table after a long absence, entering in 39th place.
Since April’s update, 95 international women’s futsal matches have been contested, bringing the 2025 total to 206 games. Among these were 57 FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup qualifiers, which finalized the line-up for the historic tournament. Japan, IR Iran, Thailand, Morocco, Tanzania, Canada, Panama, and New Zealand all secured their places.
Morocco’s women’s team emerged as the biggest movers, jumping from 47th to 31st after winning the Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations. Thailand and Japan also rose to fourth and fifth in the world, respectively.
On the men’s side, Brazil remain number one, followed by Portugal, Spain, Argentina, and IR Iran. The biggest climbers include Sweden (up 17 places to 74th), Moldova (up 14 to 66th), and Bahrain (up 14 to 69th).
FIFA first introduced the official futsal ranking system in May 2024, based on the Elo rating method. This latest edition is the fourth release, coinciding with the inclusion of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in the new FIFA Futsal International Match Calendar (2025–2028), which ensures the release of players for the competition.
