Islamabad; In the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier match held at Jinnah Stadium, Tajikistan defeated the Green Shirts 6-1, diminishing Pakistan’s chances of reaching the next stage. The visiting team took a commanding lead by securing a 4-1 advantage in the first half, dampening the spirits of the national players. With 18 thousend,spectators present in the stadium, the match kicked off at 2 p.m.

Green Shirts got a free kick in the fourth minute of the game, but they couldn’t capitalize on it. However, in the 9th minute, Tajikistan scored a goal through Kamolov Amadoni’s shared move, taking the lead after a rebound from Pakistani goalkeeper Yousuf Ajaz Butt. Five minutes later, Tajikistan’s Rustam Suyarov doubled the lead with another goal, making it 2-0.

After conceding two goals, the Pakistani team made concerted efforts to reduce the deficit. Despite their efforts, it was not until the 14th minute that Rais Nabi scored a goal from the right side of the box, bringing the score to 2-1. Tajikistan continued its successful run by scoring two more goals in the first half, as Omarboev Provision and Ehsan Panshanbe found the net in the 27th and 45th minutes, respectively, securing a 4-1 lead.

In the second half, Tajikistan intensified their efforts and added two more goals, while the host team failed to score any goals in the last 45 minutes. The match concluded with Tajikistan securing a 6-1 victory. Pakistan’s national team presented a disappointing game, especially due to the poor performance of the goalkeeper. It is worth noting that Green Shirts suffered a 4-0 defeat in their first match against Saudi Arabia in Group G.

After two consecutive defeats in the group stage, Pakistan finds itself at the bottom of the table among the four teams, including Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, and Jordan.
