Chennai: In the 26th match of the ICC World Cup, South Africa secured victory after a thrilling contest, defeating Pakistan. South Africa achieved their fifth victory in the event, narrowly defeating Pakistan by just one wicket after a thrilling battle.
South Africa successfully chased Pakistan’s target of 271 runs with a loss of 9 wickets in 47.2 overs. Aiden Markram was the standout performer with 91 runs, while David Miller contributed 29, Captain Temba Bavuma scored 28, Quinton de Kock made 24, van der Dussen scored 21, Marco Jansen contributed 20, Heinrich Klaasen added 12, Gerald Coetzee managed 10, and Lungi Ngidi scored 4 runs before getting out. The match concluded with the performances of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi.

During the Pakistani innings, Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel established an excellent partnership of 84 runs, helping the national team reach a total of 270 runs. Pakistan’s innings ended in the 47th over.
The start of the Pakistani innings wasn’t impressive, with opener Abdullah Shafique managing only 9 runs on 17 balls, and imam ul haq quickly followed. Similarly, Imam-ul-Haq could only score 12 runs before being dismissed. Later on, Mohammad Rizwan contributed 31, Mohammad Nawaz scored 24, Iftikhar Ahmed made 21, Babar Azam scored 50, Mohammad Nawaz added 24 runs, and Shahin Afridi could only score 2 runs before getting out.
From the South African side, Tabraiz Shamsi secured 4 wickets, Marco Jansen took 3 wickets, Gerald Coetzee claimed 2 wickets, and Lungi Ngidi managed to get 1 wicket.
