Karachi Administrator Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman has said that the Landhi Sports Complex is the best gift from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to the residents of Malir, Landhi, and Korangi. This complex, spread over four acres, includes a world-class swimming pool, badminton court, shooting range, hostels for players and athletes, and other facilities. The Landhi Sports Complex, constructed with a cost of millions of rupees, has not been operational yet. Our efforts are aimed at activating all sports complexes in Karachi under public-private partnerships so that young people can have better opportunities for sports and recreation,” said Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman during his visit to the Landhi Sports Complex.
Senior Director Culture and Sports, Saif Abbas Husaini, renowned cricketer Sadiq Patni, Director Sports Aftab Qaimkhani, and other officials were also present on this occasion. Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman examined the facilities provided for various indoor and outdoor sports at the Landhi Sports Complex and issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials. He stated that the youth of Landhi, Korangi, and other adjacent areas had to travel long distances to reach other sports centers in the city to showcase their abilities. Therefore, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation felt the need to establish a high-quality sports complex in Landhi, which provides all the required facilities for organizing various sports events and player practices.
Every possible effort has been made to ensure that these facilities are in line with the demands of the modern era and that the youth utilizing them can participate wholeheartedly in the competitions held at the city, provincial, and national levels. Consultations were held with experts and former athletes from all sports to make this sports complex even better. The results of these measures will be visible in the coming days. Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman emphasized that while buildings can be constructed, their benefits will only reach the citizens when they are put to use.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is committed to promoting sports and is working to improve sports fields, stadiums, and sports complexes in various districts of Karachi. It is necessary to continue such initiatives to attract young people towards positive and healthy activities.
