FIFA has launched the first-ever Player Impact Programme, giving 14 leading women footballers the chance to design and lead their own social impact projects. The initiative, which began with a workshop in Paris, aims to help players use their platforms to drive positive change in areas they care about from supporting single mothers to expanding girls football academies.

Backed by FIFA’s guidance and expert coaching, participants developed their ideas over three months and later presented them in London. FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis praised the players’ commitment to building a legacy beyond the pitch, calling their projects “inspiring and impactful.

The programme also provides seed funding, mentoring and global support, helping players turn their visions into reality. England’s Alessia Russo and Canada’s Kadeisha Buchanan are among those leading projects focused on empowering young girls and supporting families through football.
