Karachi: Dewan University’s Inter-Department Boys and Girls Arm Wrestling Championship, held under the banner of “Battle for Truth – Jashn-e-Azadi,” was a resounding success. Organized in collaboration with the Sindh Arm Wrestling Association and Dewan University, the event featured exciting and intense competitions in various weight categories for both boys and girls.
Dr. Aurangzeb Khan, Vice Chancellor of Dewan University, inaugurated the championship. He emphasized that the 14-day celebration aims to not only highlight the significance and joy of independence but also to commemorate the nation’s unity and the glorious victory over enemy India, achieved thanks to the bravery of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Among those present were Sports Director Abdul Hafeez, Nasrullah, event organizers Kaneez Fatima, Talha Khan, Ms. Noreen, Secretary Sindh Olympic Association Ahmed Ali, Chairman Arm Wrestling Association Saeed Alam, Vice Chairman Sarwar Alam, President Asif Zaheer Hashmi, Secretary Kashif Ahmed Farooqi, Rashid Ahmed, Tariq Hafeez, Salman Ismail, Qudsia Raja, Uzma Sheikh, Shadab Iftikhar, and others. Students from Dewan University participated with great enthusiasm.
Girls Category Winners:
- -30 kg: Ayesha Asghar claimed first place after a tough match against Fatima Sana, who secured second place.
- -40 kg: Zainab Kashif outplayed Bariya Ahmed to win first place.
- -45 kg: Tayyaba Ilyas defeated Jaweria Ahmed to secure first position.
- -50 kg: Wajiha Batool displayed great skill and overcame Bushra Ahmed to win first place.
- -55 kg: Taqdeer Qaiser beat Amara Khalid in a fierce battle for first position.
- -60 kg: Iqra Kausar overpowered Sonia Akhtar, securing the top spot.
- -65 kg: Fatima Arif defeated Ayesha Iftikhar to clinch first place.
Boys Category Winners:
- -55 kg: Muhammad Umar beat Muhammad Shahid for first position.
- -60 kg: Muhammad Owais defeated Ahmad Hasan to claim the top spot.
- -65 kg: Usman Afzal emerged victorious against Muhammad Sufyan.
- -70 kg: Usama triumphed over Zain-ul-Abideen.
- -75 kg: Iqtadar Afrin secured first place after defeating Muhammad Haseeb.
At the end of the event, winners were awarded prizes and medals. Sports Director Abdul Hafeez expressed special gratitude to the officials of the Sindh Arm Wrestling Association, particularly Kashif Ahmed Farooqi, for successfully organizing the championship.
