In the 27th match of PSL 10, Karachi Kings defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 23 runs to secure their place in the playoffs.
The match, played in Rawalpindi, saw Peshawar Zalmi fall short while chasing a massive target of 238 runs. They managed to score 214 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Despite a brilliant 94-run knock from captain Babar Azam, Zalmi couldn’t cross the line.
Saim Ayub contributed 47 runs, while Tom Kohler-Cadmore added 20. Mohammad Haris was dismissed for just 9. For Karachi Kings, Abbas Afridi took 2 wickets, while Hasan Ali and Mir Hamza claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, batting first, Karachi Kings posted a formidable total of 237 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted overs, setting a 238-run target for Zalmi.
James Vince played an explosive innings of 72 runs off 42 balls. David Warner top-scored with 86 runs, including 11 fours and 2 sixes. Khushdil Shah also played a fiery cameo, smashing 43 runs off just 15 balls. Mohammad Nabi contributed 26 runs, while Ben McDermott was dismissed for a duck, and Irfan Niazi scored 2.
From Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling side, Luke Wood picked up 2 wickets, and Ali Raza claimed 1.
Zalmi skipper Babar Azam had won the toss and opted to field first, inviting David Warner’s Karachi Kings to bat.
