Micky Arthur Expresses Full Support for Babar Azam’s Captaincy

Kolkata: National cricket team director Micky Arthur has stated that he fully supports Babar Azam and has confidence in his leadership capabilities.

Speaking at a press conference after the defeat against England, Micky Arthur mentioned that Babar Azam is a great young talent who is still learning. He emphasized the need to give Babar Azam opportunities, stating that everyone makes mistakes, and it’s through those mistakes that one learns valuable lessons.

Arthur admitted that the team did not play well, expressing doubt about reaching the semi-finals with such a performance. He stressed the importance of giving players consistent opportunities and acknowledged the significant impact of Naseem Shah’s injury on their bowling performance.

Highlighting his love for the Pakistan cricket team, Arthur mentioned that he was drawn to Pakistan on the suggestion of Najam Sethi. He clarified that they encourage players to play aggressive cricket, even in Test matches, and mentioned the aggressive style of play promoted in team meetings.

The national team director further commented on the positive finish against Bangladesh, stating that the teams currently in the semi-finals are playing according to the net run rate.
