Pakistan Secures ICC One Day Ranking Number One by Whitewashing Afghanistan

Colombo: Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in the final match of the three-match series, securing the number one position in the ICC One Day Rankings.

In the third match of the One Day series, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat, setting a target of 269 runs for Afghanistan. The national team scored 268 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the designated 50 overs.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan scored 67 and Babar Azam scored 60 runs. Mohammad Rizwan hit one six and 6 fours in his innings, while Babar Azam’s innings included one six and 4 fours.

In addition, Agha Salman scored 38, Mohammad Nawaz scored 30, Fakhar Zaman scored 27 runs. Imam-ul-Haq scored 13, Saud Shakeel 9, Shadab Khan 3, and Faheem Ashraf scored 2 runs.

From Afghanistan’s side, Gulbadin Naib took 2 wickets, as did Rashid Khan, while Fazal Haq Farooqi, Majib Ur Rahman, and Rashed Khan dismissed one player each.

In the pursuit of Pakistan’s target of 269 runs in the third One Day match, the entire Afghanistan team scored 209 runs in 48.4 overs before getting out. Majib Ur Rahman scored 64, Shahidullah contributed 37, and Riyad Hassan remained prominent with 34 runs.
