Pakistan and West Indies will face off in the first One Day International of the three-match series today (Friday) at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The day-night fixture marks the beginning of the ODI leg following their recent T20I series in the United States, which Pakistan won.
The remaining two ODIs will also be played at the same venue on August 10 and 12.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan will lead the Pakistan side. He expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and emphasized that the players are motivated to continue the momentum from the T20I series win. Rizwan stated that all squad members are ready to give their best performance.

Mohammad Rizwan (Captain/Wicketkeeper), Salman Ali Agha, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Haris (Wicketkeeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sufiyan Muqeem.
Opener Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury. Hasan Nawaz, after his impressive T20I performances, has earned his maiden ODI call-up.
West Indies will be led by Shai Hope. The Caribbean side has won their last three ODI series at home but suffered a 3-0 defeat in their most recent series against England.
Currently, Pakistan is ranked 4th in the ICC ODI rankings, while West Indies sits at 10th. So far, the two teams have played 137 ODIs against each other. West Indies has won 71, Pakistan 63, and 3 matches have ended in ties.
The last ODI series between the two sides took place in 2022 in Multan, where Pakistan secured a 3-0 clean sweep.
