The Pakistan Yogasana Sports Team secured two medals at the 6th Asian Championship held in Fujairah, marking the nation’s debut in the event and the beginning of its medal-winning journey.
Representing Karachi, athletes Muhammad Shayan Saleem and Muhammad Waseem Baloch won silver in the Traditional Category (Junior Class) and bronze in the Artistic Pair Category. The championship featured participation from teams representing 16 countries, with both male and female athletes enjoying the traditional hospitality of the United Arab Emirates.
The event’s chief guest was Crown Prince of Fujairah, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi. Distinguished personalities from various countries were honored with the Asian Excellence Award, including Pakistan’s Yogacharya Dr. Waseem Tai and Professor Syed Sakhawat Ali. The Pakistan Yogasana Sports Federation was also recognized with the Special Award for Asia’s Best Organization for its outstanding performance.
Several Pakistani officials received training in judging and also served as judges during the competition. Notable officials included Shahida Shoaib Rizvi, Iqbal Memon, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Ishtiaq Kayani, and Mir Shah Muhammad.
