The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a new fitness policy for domestic cricket, effective from the 2025-26 season.

All regional players will now be required to undergo mandatory fitness tests before the season begins. Strength and conditioning coaches will assess the fitness of approximately 400 regional players in August.

Fitness tests will also be mandatory for departmental cricket teams, and for the first time, the PCB itself will conduct these tests.

The new policy also extends to pathway and age-group cricket, with strict fitness standards to be met.

All domestic cricketers must pass the fitness test either on their first or second attempt.

“Domestic cricket is the nursery of talent, and there will be no compromise on standards,” said Yasir Malik, PCB’s Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach.
