Karachi, January 20 – The standout performances on Day 1 of the third round of the President’s Trophy Grade One cricket tournament were centuries by Saad Khan of SNGPL and Mohammad Shehzad of PTV, along with a remarkable six-wicket haul by Hasib Rehman of Ghani Glass.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Higher Education’s team was dismissed for 140 runs in their first innings against Ghani Glass. Mohsin Khan was the top scorer for his team, making 55 runs. Hasib Rehman bowled superbly, taking 6 wickets for 48 runs.
By the end of the day, Ghani Glass had made 179 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their first innings. Sharjeel Khan played an aggressive knock, scoring 75 runs off 83 balls, including 11 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Mohammad Azib also shone with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 51 runs.
At the KCCA Stadium, OGDCL batted first against WAPDA and scored 265 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sardar Hassan Raza contributed with 81 runs, while Abdul Rehman Mazmul made 68 runs.
At the State Bank Ground, PTV’s team scored 335 runs in their first innings before being dismissed, with Mohammad Shehzad leading the way with an impressive 129 runs, which included 13 boundaries and 4 sixes. Taimoor Khan also chipped in with 52 runs.
Ruhan Qadri, Ahmed Bashir, and Arshad Ullah each took three wickets for KRL, who finished the day with 3 runs for 1 wicket in their first innings.
At the NBP Sports Complex, SNGPL was dismissed for 242 runs in their first innings against State Bank. The start for SNGPL was disappointing as the first three batters—Abid Ali, Shahzaib Khan, and Umair Bin Yusuf—were all dismissed for no runs. By the time their fifth wicket fell, the score had only reached 27 runs.
However, Saad Khan and Ifrat Munir revived the innings with a partnership of 120 runs for the sixth wicket. Saad Khan scored a crucial 117 runs, including 14 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Ifrat Munir made 71 runs, hitting 8 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Kashif Bhatti claimed 3 wickets for State Bank.
At the end of the day, State Bank had scored 71 runs for 2 wickets in their reply. Imran Butt was not out on 49, while Umar Amin was on 16 not out.
