Dubai witnesses a glorious revival of cricket as the Canadian Men’s T20 tournament returns after a COVID-19-induced hiatus of three years. The action-packed tournament is scheduled to take place at the prestigious Brampton Sports Park from July 20th to August 6th, 2023.
In a remarkable display of resilience and determination, Cricket Canada and Global T20 management have ensured the sport’s triumphant return. Six dynamic franchises will compete in the tournament, featuring a total of 16 skilled players from both full and associate nations. Each team will boast two celebrated marquee players, three members of the Canadian National team, and three emerging Canadian Cricketers. Over the course of 18 days, a total of 25 matches will be played, promising an exhilarating spectacle.
The previous editions of the Global T20 tournament attracted cricketing legends from around the globe, including Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, David Warner, Steve Smith, Brendon McCullum, and Thisara Perera, as players. The tournament also witnessed the mentorship of esteemed figures like Wasim Akram, Brian Lara, and Mahela Jayawardene.
With Canada’s recent regaining of ODI status, the Global T20 tournament serves as a catalyst to propel the country’s campaign and realize their vision of becoming one of the top Associate Nations.
