Former captain of the national team,Shahid Afridi, revealed the details of his conversation with Captain Babar Azam and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi after the match against Sri Lanka in the World Cup.
During a private TV show, while commenting on the Pakistan and Sri Lanka match, Shahid Afridi mentioned that he congratulates players who perform well in each match by calling them, or he talks to those who didn’t perform well.
Shahid Afridi stated that he had a phone call with Captain Babar Azam after the match against Sri Lanka. He said that he congratulated Babar Azam on Pakistan’s victory against Sri Lanka and advised him to keep confidence because he is a top-class player. Although he had some tough luck in the previous matches, he assured Babar Azam that he would perform well in the upcoming matches.
Shahid Afridi mentioned that Babar also appeared positive about improving his performance.
“We spoke a lot against Sri Lanka; Shahin also accepted his mistake,” Afridi said.
Talking about Pakistan’s bowling lineup against Sri Lanka, former captain Shahid Afridi said, “When you look at the rate at which Pakistan’s bowlers are rated around the world, we had a pretty bad bowling performance against Sri Lanka.”
He also had a conversation with Shaheen Shah Afridi after the match. Afridi advised Shaheen to sit down with the team analyst and review their bowling videos to figure out where they made mistakes. Shahin accepted his mistake, and Afridi believes that giving opportunities to opponents to score runs proved costly for Pakistan.
Afridi added that Shaheen promised to work harder and have more practice sessions on the hard areas before the match against India.
