Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Secure Victories in the Blind T20 Cricket World Cup

LAHORE: Day 2 of the 4th T20 Blind Cricket World Cup saw Sri Lanka and Bangladesh emerge victorious in their respective matches, showcasing impressive performances in the ongoing tournament organized by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council.

At the Ghani Institute Cricket Ground in DHA, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first against Afghanistan. Afghanistan posted a total of 120 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Abasin was the standout performer, scoring 44 runs with 4 boundaries, while Sharafat contributed a solid 38 runs. Sri Lanka’s Damith Sandaruwan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets in a disciplined spell.

In response, Sri Lanka comfortably chased down the target in just 12.3 overs, losing only 2 wickets. Chandana Deshappriya played a key role, scoring 54 runs, while Sandaruwan remained unbeaten on 49, guiding Sri Lanka to their second consecutive victory of the tournament. Sandaruwan’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award, presented by Usman Javed, Business Head of Habib Metro, and Syed Sultan Shah, President of the World Blind Cricket Council.

At Saeed Sports City, Bangladesh triumphed over Nepal by 67 runs. Bangladesh posted a formidable total of 179 runs in their 20 overs, with captain Arif Hussain leading the charge with a brilliant 54 runs, including 6 boundaries. Muhammad Salman also contributed with a solid 34 runs. Nepal, in reply, could only manage 112 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Bharat Dhapa was the top scorer for Nepal with 31 runs. Arif Hussain’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match accolade.

The action continues on Monday, November 25, with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh at Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground, while Afghanistan will square off against Nepal at Ghani Institute Cricket Ground.
