On the final day of the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships held in Durban 2023, the titles for women’s doubles and men’s doubles champions were awarded. Cheng Meng and Wang Yidi claimed the title for women’s doubles, while the duo of Wang Manyu and Zhu Yuling won the W. J. Pope Trophy for women’s doubles. In an exciting final, the Chinese pair defeated Korea Republic’s Shin Yubin and Jeon Jihee in three straight sets (11-8, 11-7, 12-10) to secure another title for their country.

Despite a strong start from Shin and Jeon, the Chinese pair’s relentless attack proved too much for their Korean opponents. In light of their victory, Cheng Meng and Wang Yidi expressed gratitude to their supporters and dedicated the win to their team. Cheng Meng stated that she didn’t expect to win the title but credited their hard work alongside the coaches. They maintained China’s dominance in the finals of the World Championships.

In another remarkable performance, Fan Zhendong and Wang Chuqin secured the Iran Cup in the men’s doubles category by defeating Jung Youngsik and Lim Jonghoon from Korea Republic without dropping a single set (13-11, 11-6, 11-5). Jung and Lim, who had fallen just short of claiming the title in the 2021 World Championships in Houston, couldn’t improve their performance in the current edition and were defeated by the top seeds.
