Mumbai: In the first semi-final of the Cricket World Cup, India defeated New Zealand and secured a place in the final.

According to official sources, the match held at Wankhede Stadium saw India emerge victorious against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup, leading India to the final.

New Zealand’s team could not chase India’s target of 398 runs and collapsed at 327 runs in 48.5 overs. India’s Mohammed Shami sent seven New Zealand players back to the pavilion, contributing to the team’s defensive stance. Despite a valiant effort, New Zealand fell short by 137 runs. India’s bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav also claimed one wicket each.

Prior to that, India won the toss and elected to bat first. The Indian team set a target of 397 runs, losing four wickets in 50 overs. Virat Kohli scored 117 runs, and Shreyas Iyer contributed 105 runs. Virat Kohli achieved his fiftieth century during the match.

During India’s batting innings, captain Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs aggressively. South Africa’s team took three wickets, and Trent Boult took one wicket for New Zealand.
