According to the PCB, the announcement of both new captains was made on social media. Shan Masood has been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan Test team, while shaheen Afridi will lead the T20 team. The announcement of the captain for the One Day team will be made later.
Shan Masood, 34, has represented Pakistan in 30 Test matches, scoring 1597 runs with 4 centuries and 7 half-centuries. He will lead the team in the ICC World Test Championship series against Australia starting on December 14.
On the other hand, left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan T20 team. He will lead the team in the T20 series against New Zealand from January 12 to 21.
Shaheen Afridi has taken 64 wickets in 52 T20 internationals and led Lahore Qalandars to victory in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) trophies in 2022 and 2023.
