The federal government’s recent decision to cut 1.24 billion rupees from the development budget of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in the fourth quarter of the financial year has put several ongoing development projects in jeopardy. The original plan was to release 3.40 billion rupees for these projects in the fourth quarter, but the new decision has reduced the funds available.

The PSB is already facing financial trouble as its non-development expenditure was cut by 50% earlier. With this latest development, the organization will be unable to complete some of its 17 ongoing projects during the current financial year. This cut will only add to the delays and may result in the projects being abandoned altogether.

The government’s decision to cut the PSB’s development budget has raised concerns about the future of sports in Pakistan, particularly as it comes at a time when the country is trying to promote sports at the national level. The government should reconsider this decision and allocate sufficient funds to complete ongoing projects and promote sports development in the country.
