Pakistan Super League 9: Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans Victorious, Peshawar and Karachi Suffer Defeats

“On the second day of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs. Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam’s 68 runs couldn’t secure a win for the team. In the second match, Multan Sultans defeated Karachi Kings by 55 runs.

The third match of PSL season 9 was played between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Karachi Kings’ captain Shaan Masood won the toss and decided to field.

Multan Sultans, batting first, scored 185 runs for the loss of two wickets.

In response, Karachi Kings could only manage 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Shoaib Malik scored 53, Shaan Masood 30, and Kieron Pollard 28 runs for Karachi Kings.

No other player could enter double figures, and four players got out for a duck.

Earlier, Multan Sultans’ openers Mohammad Rizwan and David Malan started the innings, but captain Mohammad Rizwan got out after scoring 11 runs.

Then David Malan partnered with Rilee Rossouw. David Malan scored 52 runs before getting out, while Rilee Rossouw played a brilliant innings of 79 runs, and Khushdil Shah remained not out on 28 runs off 13 balls.

Peshawar Zalmi vs. Quetta Gladiators
The second match of the 9th edition of PSL was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Where Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Quetta Gladiators to bat first.

Quetta Gladiators scored 206 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, and in response, Peshawar Zalmi lost 6 wickets for 190 runs and thus lost the match by 16 runs.

Gladiators’ openers played an excellent game to reach a total of 206 runs. Jason Roy scored 75, and Saud Shakeel scored 74 runs.

In addition, captain Rilee Rossouw scored 13, Sherfane Rutherford 20, and Mohammad Wasim scored 4 runs, while Khawaja Naveed remained not out on 6 runs.

From Peshawar’s side, Salman Arshad took 3 wickets, while Luke Wood and Mohammad Zeshan took one wicket each.

Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam scored 68 runs with a brilliant innings, while Saqib Mahmood scored 42 runs.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored 18, and Mohammad Haris scored 7 runs.

Abrar Ahmed took 2 wickets for Quetta Gladiators.

Speaking at the toss, Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam had said that they wanted to start the event with success in the match, would try to restrict Quetta’s team to 160 runs, and take advantage of the conditions in the second batting.

At the toss, Quetta Gladiators’ captain Rilee Rossouw had said that they would try to set a big target and put the opposing team under pressure, wanting to create a high-performance environment in the team.
