Karachi: Under the Prime Minister Youth Development Program Sports, Talent Hunt Youth Sports Leagues for Girls and Boys Hockey and Volleyball in Sindh officially started from June 21 in Karachi.
The grand opening ceremony of the league was held at Mahmood Alam Auditorium of NED University in which Vice President of Prime Minister Secretariat Sindh Khawaja Shoaib and other dignitaries addressed the audience.
During the opening ceremony, Khawaja Shoaib informed the youth that trials for football are being conducted nationwide on the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Boys and girls aged 15 to 25 can participate in these trials.
Khawaja Shoaib stated that efforts will be made to successfully organize this event and provide the best facilities to teams coming from all over Sindh. Addressing the audience at the opening ceremony, Sheikh-ul-Jamia NED University Professor Dr. Sarosh Lodhi said that sports adds to our positive activities. He further mentioned that the talent is not lacking in our youth, and if needed, NED University will continue to play its important role in providing attention and training for their bright future. The ceremony also included Javed Ali Memon, Director Sports of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), who stated that the HEC will continue the series of training athletes and organizing competitions.
At the end of the ceremony, awards and commemorative shields were distributed to the successful teams and personalities participating in the 34th National Games to be held in Quetta, with the hosting responsibilities fulfilled by renowned sports anchor Yahya Hussaini.
